Introduction
Ubuntu MATE 21.10 (Impish Indri) is the standard release from the Ubuntu MATE team and will be supported for nine months until July 2022. Ubuntu MATE team has put more effort into fixing bugs in MATE Desktop 1.26.0, optimizing performance, and plugging memory leaks. As a result, MATE Desktop is now faster and leaner.
It also comes with Linux Kernel 5.13, Firefox 96 as a snap package instead of a deb package, LibreOffice v7.2.1, Thunderbird v91.1.2, and Celluloid v0.20.
Ubuntu MATE 21.10 now includes a Guest session for your friend, family member, or colleague. Anyone can launch a guest session either from the login screen or from the already logged-in session. However, a guest can not view the home folder of other users, and any saved data or settings will be reset at the logout by default.
Ubuntu MATE team is expected to release images for the Raspberry Pi in the coming weeks following the release for PC.
